Biography

Dr. Nail Farkhatdinov is a curator, researcher, publisher, and educator working at the intersection of sociology of art, social theory, and curatorial research. He received a PhD in Sociology from University of Aberdeen, with his thesis focused on ethnographic study of social relations at exhibition sites. As a research curator, he has worked on projects dedicated to exploring how art mediates social issues. Recently, his projects have been focusing on the cultural and social impacts of COVID-19, the evolving nature of labor and leisure, as well as investigations into global digital art scenes. One of his notable projects, Prometheus.DEMO: Experiment Promises to Become Art (co-curated with Kristina Romanova), delved into the history of media-art pioneers in the Soviet Union and was nominated for the Innovation Art Prize in 2018. He is currently a Visiting Fellow at the European Humanities University (Vilnius). Nail joined TAEX as Curator in 2023.
