Andrea Meregalli (1977) is an Italian architect, designer, and artist. Extract from the artist's statement:His research lies between irony and paradox in visual communication and has its roots in technical and scientific studies. His works fluctuate between total randomness and manic control. He sends his messages through paintings, drawings, prints, single-copy books, digital techniques, and artificial intelligence. He improperly uses pencils, pens, markers, everyday objects, acrylic paints, enamels, oil, pixels, and moulds. Taking everything seriously under his legs, he represents the everyday in its uselessness, patinas and layers, like therapy. Not many emotions, but enough irony to make the present bearable. After graduating with honours from the Politecnico di Milano, he opened his own professional design studio with Maddalena Merlo simultaneously developing art projects of personal search. He worked for several years without showing anything to anyone. Almost by accident, during the lockdown of 2020, he began to make his works as an artist public. He is the author of Culomiao, a stamp engraved in the rubber, and of the publishing house Edizioni Culomiao, an independent distillery of books and liqueurs, all zero miles self-produced. A curious experimenter, he integrated digital technology, in particular, artificial intelligence, in his artistic research right from the beginning of his career as an artist. His artworks were exhibited at many notable national venues, such as Villa Reale (Monza), Marta Mez Studio (Milan), Palazzo Carignano (Turin), Space Blue Train and The Kitchen Art Gallery (Milan), Villa Contemporanea Gallery (Monza), ADI Design Museum (Milan), BAW Bolzano Art Week, and more. Andrea lives and works in Monza, Italy.
